Pro Bono Success At Divisional Court

Ian Matthews acted pro bono for a respondent in successfully upholding a judgment obtained from the Small Claims Court. The case was undertaken through Pro Bono Ontario’s Appeals Assistance Project. The respondent, an electrician, had represented himself at trial and succeeded in obtaining recovery for unpaid electrical work he performed. The appellant appealed on the grounds that the respondent’s claim was time-barred. The Divisional Court rejected this argument and affirmed the judgment below.
